Ryan Seacrest was so excited about his first day hosting Wheel of Fortune that he could barely sleep the night before.

The longtime American Idol host took over the syndicated game show from Pat Sajak, who ended his four-decade run as host last month.

On Tuesday, Seacrest shared a video on his Instagram, giving fans a behind-the-scenes peek at what his first day as host looked like. “A glimpse of my first day at @wheeloffortune, and I’m still spinning with excitement!” he wrote in the post’s caption.

“My heart’s pounding,” Seacrest added at the beginning of the video as he arrived at the show’s set. “I’m so excited.”

The new co-host of the legendary game show shared an Instagram Reel on Tuesday with fun clips from the special day on set, which took place a few months ago.

“A glimpse of my first day at @wheeloffortune, and I’m still spinning with excitement!” Seacrest wrote in the caption of the post.

The video opens with Seacrest spinning the wheel and appreciating the iconic sound it makes, which he said he found “soothing.” More clips show Seacrest arriving at the soundstage where the show is filmed and walking through the doors.

The duo will take the reins of “Wheel of Fortune” together when the show’s new season kicks off this fall.

Seacrest is taking over Pat Sajak’s longtime role as co-host of the iconic game show. Sajak spun the wheel for a final time in June.

Earlier this week, the show’s official Instagram account shared a promo for the 42nd season, and longtime fans of the show seem to be having mixed reactions to the new host. 

In the promo, Seacrest tells co-host Vanna White, “I can’t wait to get to work.”
