Amazon takes on AMD, Intel with powerful Arm-based Graviton3 CPU

Amazon Web Services has announced new instances for EC2 in the shape of the C7g. 

Announced at the company’s AWS re:Invent event, the new instances will be powered by its newest processor, the Graviton3, which is aimed at what AWS labels as, compute-intensive workloads: HPC, batch processing, electronic design automation (EDA), media encoding, scientific modeling, ad serving, distributed analytics, and CPU-based machine learning inferencing.

Reeling from ransomware attack, Managed.com takes down its entire web hosting infrastructure • Graham Cluley

In the early hours of Monday morning, Managed.com – a major provider of managed web hosting solutions – discovered it was the victim of a co-ordinated ransomware attack, encrypting not only its own systems but also the websites of customers.

Within hours the company had decided to take down its entire infrastructure. That has the advantage of meaning that no more damage can be done by the ransomware against the websites and databases of customers, but has the colossal drawback of meaning that those same websites are no longer accessible.

As you can probably imagine, customers – some of whom seem not to be aware that their web hosting provider has suffered a severe ransomware attack – are less than happy to find their websites are no longer online.

Ransomware attack takes web hosting provider Managed.com servers offline

One of the internet’s biggest web hosting providers has been forced to shut down all of its servers after suffering a ransomware attack. 

Managed.com, which provides CMS-optimized platforms for small businesses and enterprise-level clients, initially only took down a small number of customer sites on November 16 when the attack first become apparent. Hours later, however, it was forced to close down its entire web hosting infrastructure.
