Mayim Bialik has been ousted as host of “Jeopardy!”

The former “Big Bang Theory” star has until recently shared hosting duties with Ken Jennings. She announced via Instagram post Friday that the decision came down from Sony ahead of the holiday break.

“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of ‘Jeopardy!’” she wrote. “I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the ‘Jeopardy!’ family.

“For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s favorite quiz show, thank you,” she added in the social media…

Mayim Bialik will no longer host “Jeopardy!”

The actor and quiz show host announced her departure on Friday in an Instagram post that was designed to look like one of the show’s iconic game board screens.

In her statement, Bialik seemed to suggest that her exit came as a surprise.

“As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news,” she shared. “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!”

Jeopardy Is About To Make Some Key Changes, And I’m Not Sure How To Feel

With the passing of longtime Jeopardy! fixture Alex Trebek in 2020, producers have understandably had to make some changes to the quiz show in the years since. The changes include installing one-time contestant Ken Jennings as the permanent host for the program’s 40th season and introducing recent game additions like the new-to-Season-40 Champions Wildcard. And I’m just not sure how I feel about what’s changing next. 

On the most recent episode of the after-show podcast Inside Jeopardy!, producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss said that fans can expect even more changes to the show beginning December 19, including a new logo and flashy new opening title sequence:
