Ken Jennings Says Mayim Bialik's 'Jeopardy!' Ouster 'Took Me Off Guard' – Yahoo

Ken Jennings responded Tuesday to the unexpected ouster of his “Jeopardy!” cohost Mayim Bialik, saying that the move from Sony “took me off guard.”

“It took me off guard, because I loved working with my Mayim and I’m going to miss her,” Jennings said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I can’t speak to her decision-making process or her opinions about it. But on my end, I’m just a fan of ‘Jeopardy!’ and I’m always delighted to host when they call upon me. I just feel extremely lucky to have even been considered for this job as a non-broadcaster.”

Bialik, who had until recently shared hosting duties with Jennings, announced Dec. 15 that the decision came down from Sony ahead of Hollywood’s holiday break for her to not move forward as cohost of the…

Jeopardy! Host Ken Jennings Comments on Mayim Bialik’s Ouster

Jennings took over Bialik’s share of the Jeopardy! hosting duties after she left to support the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings said he was taken off-guard when Mayim Bialik exited the long-running game show. Jennings, who has has shared hosting duties with Bialik since the since July of last year, will now take over Bialik’s share of the job, which included hosting Celebrity Jeopardy! and other primetime specials. Her star power made sense in that scenario, but hardcore fans of the show never really seemed to let of the idea of Jennings replacing the late Alex Trebek as host. The compromise lasted for about a year, until Bialik stepped away from the show during the Writers Guild of America strike.

bitchy | Mayim Bialik will no longer be hosting Jeopardy, Ken Jennings is the permanent host
If you thought (like I did) that we were finished with Jeopardy host shenanigans, then you (and I) were mistaken. Mayim Bialik had one week left of filming Jeopardy’s 39th season when the writers strike began in May. Since Jeopardy had WGA members, Mayim decided to show solidarity and did not film that final week. Ken Jennings, her alternating co-host, stepped in to finish Season 39. Some argued that it was not a direct scab since the material had been written before the strike was called. Mayim hasn’t been back to host since. So this weekend’s official announcement feels like late confirmation of what’s already been in effect for half a year: Mayim Bialik will not be back, Ken Jennings will handle all hosting duties on his own.

Mayim Bialik, who had co-hosting duties on Jeopardy! since 2021, announced her departure on social media, making way for Ken Jennings.

Mayim Bialik Jeopardy

I’ll take Jeopardy! hosts that didn’t make the cut, Ken… Mayim Bialik, who shared hosting duties of the iconic answer-and-question game show since 2021, is officially out, leaving Ken Jennings as the sole host.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Mayim Bialik announced, “As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news. Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!.” She noted that she continues to be grateful for being nominated for the inaugural Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Game Show – with Jennings also competing, no less. She also thanked those who…

Jeopardy! is making a major change. Mayim Bialik will no longer host the quiz show, the The Big Bang Theory alum shared the news on her Instagram Friday.

It was just last summer that Bialik was named the long-running game show’s permanent co-host, opposite Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings. In her new post, Bialik wrote that she was informed by studio Sony that she would “no longer be hosting the syndicated version” of the show. She did not give a reason for her exit.

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family,” the Blossom star wrote. “For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey…
