Saturday Night Live shut down over Hollywood writers’ strike

Saturday Night Live has been temporarily shut down as the Hollywood writers’ strike continues affecting Pete Davidson’s hosting debut.

Members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike on Tuesday (May 2) over pay resulting in US late night weekday chat shows, including Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, to be pulled off air.

As the strike wages on, with the negotiations for increased salaries for writers continuing, weekend US TV shows, among them Saturday Night Live, have been impacted.

Pete, 29, had been due to make his triumphant return to the beloved programme on Saturday after quitting the show as a featured player earlier this year.
